Look
for a size of fireplace surround that slightly overlaps the
outside of your firebox plus any tile or marble. Think of your
surround as a picture frame for your fireplace.

3.
Height
Follow the same principle to fit the height that you used to fit
the width: look for a size of fireplace surround where the inner
height of the surround is slightly less than the outer
height of the fireplace.
4.
Double-check the width
Once you arrive
at a size of surround, double-check the width of the top mantel
shelf to make sure it doesn't conflict with any obstructions to
the sides such as windows or light switches.
5. Tile Gap
We can trim the insides of the legs and back of the faceplate
area to let your surround fit flush against both the tile and
the wall.
